Oscar Delp Prospect Profile

Oscar Delp Prospect Profile

Background

Oscar Delp grew up in Cumming, Georgia, and attended West Forsyth High School, where he also played lacrosse. He caught 59 passes for 923 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, earning Forsyth County Offensive Player of the Year and a 247Sports All-American nod as the consensus top-ranked tight end in the country. Because he saw how tight ends coach Todd Monken utilized Brock Bowers as a true freshman, he committed to Georgia and enrolled early in January 2022. He spent his first two seasons learning behind Darnell Washington and Bowers before taking over as the primary tight end, and played every game of his senior season through a hairline fracture in his foot that wasn't discovered until Combine medicals prevented him from working out in Indianapolis. After playing in 51 games for the Bulldogs throughout his career, he declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Physical Attributes

After not participating at the combine, Delp did this at his pro day:

That's pretty good. His explosion showed up on tape. People his size are not meant to get up to speed so quickly, and then hit such a top speed. His bench shows off his very good strength as well. He did not test in agility drills, because I imagine he knows he would have done poorly on them.

Data and Tape Analysis

If you are unfamiliar with my TE radar charts, you can find more information here

This radar chart tells a story of a specific type of player. That is exactly the player that Oscar Delp is. A hard-nosed blocker with some intriguing pass catching ability because of his size, but ultimately one who does not know what he is doing out there.

Kirby Smart just knows how to find TEs and uses them a lot. Two TE sets were common in the 2025 Mike Bobo offense, and of the two, Delp was the primary player in both blocking and receiving.

His blocking is his calling card, though. He blocked on 70.4% of his total snaps, and was a weapon for the offense in those situations. He did not give up a single pressure in 84 reps as a pass blocker last year. These were difficult reps either. I was astounded by how well he held up in one-on-one coverage against EDGEs in pass protection. He even had to win duels between a rushing edge and a blitzing linebacker a few times and did, highlighting his athleticism and scanning ability. In the run game, I wish he got a bit more push, but he consistently made the right block.

Now as a pass catcher, yeesh. Not a lot of good stuff to write about. It looks like no one has ever bothered to teach him how to run a route. Everything looks haphazard, slower than it needs to be, and uncertain. Once the ball goes towards him, though, he is a decent catcher and explodes when the ball is in his hands. Delp is a great threat to find YAC and punishes smaller DBs for trying to get in his way.

Grade and Outlook

Oscar Delp will help NFL TE rooms looking to add size and versatility from day one in his career. I trust in his athletic traits to one day take him into three-down TE1 territory for whichever team drafts him, but he will need a lot of work as a receiver before he gets there.

Grade: 5.2 (3rd Rounder)
