Jeff Caldwell Prospect Profile
Background
Jeff Caldwell grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and attended Butler Traditional High School, where he played soccer and basketball and only tried football at his older brother Frank's urging. Future NFL receiver Jordan Watkins and Kentucky target Demontae Crumes buried him on the depth chart. Without playing time, Caldwell drew no recruiting interest, and was in the process of enlisting in the military when a growth spurt between his junior and senior years took him from 5'8" to 6'4". Unable to benefit from his growth spurt, COVID wiped out his senior season. Lindenwood, then a Division II program, was the only school to offer him. He followed his brother Frank there, had a quiet freshman year, and developed into one of the best players in the FCS over three seasons. Finishing his time with the Lions as a 2024 Walter Payton Award finalist after posting 52 catches for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby slid into his DMs when he entered the portal, and Caldwell chose the Bearcats over Louisville, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Ahead of 2025, Bruce Feldman included him on his Freaks List. He caught 32 passes for 478 yards and six touchdowns against Big 12 competition, and declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Physical Attributes
Honestly, this could be the whole profile. Caldwell is 6'5" 216 lbs with 32 5/8" arms and 9 6/8" hands. He is huge. Add to that a 42-inch vert, an 11'02" broad, and a 4.31 40. MockDraftable has a little radar chart maker of its own and shows you similar players based on athletic profiles, and Caldwell's closest relation is Christian Watson. Calvin Johnson, the Greek god who decided to play WR, is in a league of his own, but Caldwell sits as the 2nd most similar prospect in athletic testing.
Second paragraph in a physical attribute section, the heresy! Too bad it is my format and I will do with it what I want. It is because I did not want to talk about what this athleticism looks like on the field and have the previous paragraph go on too long.
On the field Caldwell looks massive, if a tad skinny. For someone who did not have access to top-level college weight rooms and diet plans before this past year, I think he could even pack on a few pounds and not lose any burst. Burst, he has too. Most of the time he looks contained, only at 80% speed, but when he hits 100, it is game over. He is so fast and has solid agility too. He has quick steps that create separation on in and out breaking routes, if he does still lack the ability to throttle down well.
Data and Tape Analysis
If you are unfamiliar with my WR radar charts, you can find more information here

I did not lie when I said the whole profile could be the physical section, so I will make a few quick points here.
- He is so unbelievably raw. Playing three years at a lower level left him with a lack of refinement in his play that is very noticeable.
- For someone so big, he is very good at making defenders miss.
- He has very solid tracking ability, which matters a lot for a primarily downfield threat.
- Runs into DBs once or twice a game.
Grade and Outlook
Give me the athletic freak without a ton of coaching and let me see if we can turn this hunk of marble into the Statue of David.
Grade: 4.5 (4th Rounder)
