Intro

Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me in this little passion project of mine!
My single favorite sporting event since I was about 10 years old was the NFL combine. I think it comes from the fact that I typically got super sick and missed a week of school nearly every year right around combine time. It was the single best thing to watch while having a 104-degree fever on the couch.

The point that turned me into an insane person was Luke Kuechly. There was no doubt he was highly rated coming out of Boston College, but oh my lord, that combine showing was unreal. The athleticism and fluidity were phenomenal. Add that to his instinctual and impressive tape, and I knew this guy would be a star (not a hot take, I know).
Since then, every year I have religiously watched the combine and had my ears tuned to players that I had never heard of before, and started tracking them and their careers. And in more recent years, I have begun watching tape of those players as well.
What you can expect out of this Substack is a place where I put down and document my thoughts on certain players and what makes them good, what makes them maybe not so good, and what might make them a bust or star. I was doing all this work anyway, so I might as well go ahead and share it.
I hope you enjoy this journey, and know that my first post later today will be a live updating Draft big board as I finish the last few evaluations I get through, as well as a live reaction to every pick in the 1st round on my bluesky duncansdrafts.bsky.social and then a more in depth look at each pick here on the substack after round 1 and before round 2.
