Background
Gennings Dunker was born in Norwalk, Iowa, near Des Moines, and moved to Lena, Illinois, at age eight. His family remained Hawkeyes through and through. He attended Lena-Winslow High School and grew up hunting and working on farms where he bailed hay, fed calves, and mowed grass. A three-star recruit ranked in the top 40 in Illinois, he committed to Iowa on the spot at a summer camp before his junior year. He redshirted in 2021 while recovering from a foot injury suffered in his senior season and made the Dean's List both semesters. In 2022, he played in 11 games at left and right guard, making his first career start at right guard in the Music City Bowl victory against Kentucky, before transitioning to right tackle in 2023, where he started all 13 games. He earned Second-Team All-Big Ten in 2024 and First-Team All-Big Ten in 2025 as a key piece of Iowa's Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line, allowing just nine sacks over his final three seasons and drawing only seven penalties across 2,209 career snaps. While at Iowa, he won consecutive Solon Beef Days hay bale toss titles in 2022 and 2023, setting a record by launching a 60-pound bale over a bar at 14 feet 6 inches. He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Physical Attributes
RAS:

Beyond the very solid athletic testing, I gave Dunker an 8.92 grade for his on-field drills. The drills he did the best on were the pulls, where you can see his small area burst and quick feet. He moves with good weight and fluidity, but cannot deliver strength at the point of contact. Dunker also could use a little more core strength, and it is hard to grade his lower body strength as I think his base fails him consistently.
Data and Tape Analysis
If you are unfamiliar with my OL radar charts, you can find more information here

Let's get the obvious out of the way. Dunker will not be an OT in the NFL. He will have to be pushed inside to guard to make up for his deficiency as a one-on-one pass blocker. Not only that, but looking at the radar chart, it is also clear for him to excel he needs to be on a zone scheme team as well.
Dunker has serviceable pass blocking, but needs major improvement if he is going to be more than just neutral in the league. His base is all wrong. He looks as if he is leaning over while standing on his toes. If you want to try that and see how long you can keep your balance, try it. Now imagine Myles Garrett trying to push you over. Not a great idea. He needs to keep his feet more rooted to the ground, especially because of his second weakness.
This weakness plays into his one downfall as a run blocker as well. Dunker plays with wide hands, or sometimes, none. He mistimes or outright misses punches on rushers. In the run game, it looks like he would rather use a shoulder charge than to control the defender with his hands. So he gets a yard or two of pushback and takes himself out of the play, but then the defender can recover faster than he can.
That's not to say that it is all bad news in the run game. Dunker's athleticism and movement skills give a great base for a team to build on. When he gets it all right, you can see the picture, and day one looks to have just below-average starting IOL capabilities.
Grade and Outlook
It feels wrong not loving an Iowa defensive lineman. Especially one who looks like this, won back-to-back Solon Beef Days hay bale toss titles, and has great movement skills.

The best that can be hoped for is that Dunker fixes his technical deficiencies and becomes a near-elite run blocker, and a solid to slightly above-average pass blocker.
Grade: 5.5 (3rd Rounder)
