Background
Billy Schrauth grew up on a cattle farm in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, the second youngest of eight children whose parents own a livestock business. Two older brothers played Division II college football, and a sister plays professional basketball in Croatia. He attended St. Mary's Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, where he was a two-way player at offensive tackle and defensive end, posting 59 tackles and 17 tackles for loss as a defensive lineman across his junior and senior seasons, and also competed in shot put and discus. He led St. Mary's Springs to the WIAA Division 6 state championship game as a senior while the offense averaged 250 rushing yards per game. A four-star recruit ranked the No. 5 offensive guard nationally and No. 4 player in Wisconsin, he committed to Notre Dame over Ohio State and Wisconsin, becoming Marcus Freeman's first commitment just hours after Freeman's introductory press conference as head coach. He underwent foot surgery in 2022, missing his entire true freshman season. In 2023, he played in all 13 games, starting the final three at right guard because of Rocco Spindler's season-ending injury. He started 12 games at guard in 2024, moving from right to left guard after missing four games with a high ankle sprain suffered at Purdue, and helped anchor the line during Notre Dame's run to the national championship game. For 2025, the team voted him a captain. He also achieved the highest PFF grade among Irish offensive linemen, giving up just two pressures in seven starts before he sprained his MCL against USC. Playing through the rest of that game on a single healthy knee, he played 66 snaps, contributing to Notre Dame's 306 rushing yards and 34-24 win, before his season ended for the last month. AFCA named him Second-Team All-American despite the missed time. He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft as a redshirt junior.
Physical Attributes
We did not get any athletic testing from Schrauth because of the aforementioned MCL injury. On tape, he hinted at above-average athleticism, but hinted like Late July Lime Chips, not hinted like Tostitos Hint of Lime if you know what I mean. That goes for all categories of athleticism, and even his size, 6'4" and 310 lbs with 10.25" hands and 32.8" arms.
Data and Tape Analysis
If you are unfamiliar with my OL radar charts, you can find more information here

Billy Schrauth should have the nickname, "The Accountant'. First off, his name sounds like it needs a CPA at the end. Second, he went to Notre Dame. Third, God was this watch boring. I do not think a single thing he did made me excited or upset; I kind of just took it all in as he went about his boring, yet important work. An accountant.
Look at that radar chart, very good! Doing boring things well pays handsomely in the world we live in and that is Schrauth's MO. He does not maul people in the run, he does not have freaky athleticism, he does not have overwhelming size, nope Schrauth plays it all right down the middle.
I am struggling really hard to write here because Schrauth might just be the car that you slap the hood of and say you can ride this baby for miles. A Honda Civic of a guard. No frills, but consistency. You know he is going to lose reps, but never spectacularly so. You also know he will execute exactly what he is told to do, and in concert with the rest of his line. That really matters.
Grade and Outlook
I am very conflicted about this grade because I feel like there are two ten year careers within Schrauth. One as a line depth across the interior that an offense loves to have because he is one of the best backups in the league. Or a ten-year starter that just plays some of the most bang-on average and consistent football you have ever seen. As a rugby reference, is he more Owen Farrell or Maxime Lucu?
Grade: 4.3 (4th Rounder)
